One thing I have a knack for when meeting people is getting them to talk about themselves. I'm pretty sure I can learn someone's life story in about 10 minutes! For example, today was my first day volunteering at Dress for Success. I was working in the merchandising area which allows you to talk with other volunteers as you work. There was an older lady there with me and we started talking about her grandchildren and the work she did (Janis worked for 48 years at her local synagogue). Eventually it came up that three of her grandchildren were born via IVF. I told her that is what my husband and I were doing and it's amazing what science can do nowadays. She went on to say how back in her day "those people" just didn't have kids. Isn't that so crazy to think about? If I was trying to have children just 30 years ago, I wouldn't be able to. In the 28 years I've been alive, ICSI went from being not medically possible to our
only choice for having children of our own!
Since it is such an interesting procedure I took a picture of a description from UCSF's website. You can also click
HERE to read it. Science is amazing. People who dedicate their lives to this research will forever have a special place in my heart.
Day 5 Shot is done!! While I am doing each shot I try to distract myself. Today I was distracting myself with House Hunters. I love HGTV!
Health-wise I'm exhausted and feel sick. I can't tell if it's a side effect or if I'm actually coming down with a cold. If it's a side effect, it's worth it for Baby Ras. If I'm just sick it's a bummer! =)
That was a lot of really interesting information. I feel confident this procedure will work and produce healthy and happy children for you guys. Glad you are enjoying your volunteer work as well. You will be a great mentor. Enjoy your Valentine weekend together! Love you! Mom
