Tried It

Yesterday I noticed the dark line on my stomach called Linea Nigra.  Guess my belly really is starting to grow!

I was so glad I went to the chiropractor.  It felt good to get adjusted and she showed me some stretches to do as well.  Since I am pregnant the back adjustment is different.  It was a little bit of massage and drop table.  I got a normal neck adjustment though.  At the end of the appointment she told me about this acupuncture therapy that is supposed to help with nausea.  I told her I wasn't a big fan of needles, but she said to just try it.  I ended up getting 10 ear tacks put in!  4 in each ear and 1 in each wrist.  I went to the appointment feeling pretty nauseous and it seemed to help, but a few hours later I started getting nauseous again.  It hurt so bad on my right ear yesterday evening that I finally took it off and it was bleeding.  That freaked me out so I took them all out (but only the one was bleeding).  It was nice of her to try something for me though!

17 Week Twin Bump

My pregnancy symptoms have stayed pretty constant and not much has changed (nausea, vomiting, exhaustion, sore back, frequent peeing, etc.).  I actually woke up around 5:45 this morning and couldn't fall back asleep because I was thinking of names.  I probably stayed up an hour or more thinking about what to call the boys before I drifted back to sleep.
Seth cut off my head, but here's my 17 week belly!
Grow baby boys, grow!

Twin BOYS!!!

Seth and I are so excited that we are having twin boys!  I'm shocked, but thrilled both are boys!  With all our embryos from the first round being female, I just assumed our fresh transfer babies would be female too (Seth laughs when I say that since law of averages says some are bound to be boys).  It could be that all the ones we froze from this fresh transfer are boys or a mix!  We know for sure we have one female frozen from the first round though.  Anyways, Seth's dream from a couple months ago was right!  He said he thought both were boys, and now he has proof!

It was so exciting seeing both boys today on the ultrasound.  They were not shy about showing off the fact that they are boys.  They wanted Mom and Dad to know!  They also showed their little hands.  Baby B's hand was very clear with the fingers all spread out.

A fond memory from this morning is Seth saying to pull out our name list and to go over it while we waited to see Kirsten (the nurse practitioner).  We want solid and easy first names since our last name is longer.

I was also happy to find out my Placenta Previa is gone and shouldn't be a problem the rest of the pregnancy.

My back pain is bad enough though that I set up an appointment with a chiropractor who specializes in prenatal and postnatal care.  I'm looking forward to seeing her on Wednesday and getting some relief!

Quickening

On Saturday, September 17th, I woke up around 5:45 AM to the babies moving. It's such a unique sensation.  It kind of remind me of little bubbles.  My mom was even able to feel one of them on my left side at lunch that day.  I mostly notice them at night when I'm laying down.  A benefit of twins is feeling them earlier!  I learned from my app that it's called quickening and you can start noticing it at 14 weeks.
Reenacting my mom feeling the babies.
Saturday continued to be an exciting day because I got the new Fitbit Charge 2, the new iPhone 7, and Seth went and picked up a huge TV.  I guess part of our nesting includes all the latest and newest gadgets!

I thought I was doing better vomiting wise because I went about 5 days without throwing up, but Thursday hit and I couldn't keep anything down.  I finally had a smoothie and soup so I didn't have to go to the emergency room.  I have had 3 close calls with that now.

On Monday we go in for another ultrasound and will find out the genders.  I'm really looking forward to it.  While I was at my parents for the week we worked on baby shower stuff and we will print the invitations we made once we know the genders in a couple days.

15 Weeks and 2 Days

I used to post on the daily, then weekly, but now it's whenever I have enough energy!  Ha!  I had a couple relatives asking for updates and telling me this was how they kept up with the pregnancy so I figured I better check in and make it semi-interesting!

I'm currently listening to my mom teach piano lessons to two cute girls.  Yes, that means I'm back in California!  It's so nice being around my parents.  I just feel happy and comfortable around them.

I arrived yesterday morning and was feeling okay until about 3:00.  My mom got to experience my nausea to vomiting right before dinner at 5:00.  My poor dad walked in right at the end.  He had come home early to visit, but I was way too miserable.  That's one unappetizing way to get ready for dinner.  Whenever I throw-up it lasts forever and is so painful.  Food tastes pretty gross too, but I always try to eat something after though so the twins get nutrition.

I ended up going to bed around 7:30 PM and woke up at 7:45 AM.  I was exhausted, but still woke up to pee 5x (literally).  My parents use night lights so I didn't need my phone light like I do at home.  Seth and I normally sleep in a very dark room and I use the flashlight on my phone so I don't trip.

I would love a reprieve from the vomiting and nausea.  It seems that won't be happening any time soon.  I'm just lucky I'm not working full-time too.  Just knowing how exhausted I am after unloading the dishwasher or going to the grocery store, thinking about being with little 3rd graders all day seems undoable.  I obviously miss being in the classroom and seeing the same kids every day, but preparing for the twins and making sure I stay healthy is the priority right now.

My current main complaints are vomiting, nausea, exhaustion, headaches, and low back pain (it goes into my upper thighs and makes it hard/hurt to walk).  The positive of all this is that I feel like the pregnancy is real and the babies are coming.  I actually shared a photo on Instagram of Seth and me as babies and it made me really excited to see what these little ones will look like!
My mom and I are working on my baby shower invitations.  My sister and her mother-in-law are kind enough to host it in Utah!  I was actually stressed about my baby shower.  Being newer to an area (Houston) and having babies with no family around is not really ideal.  When my sister told me she wanted to host in Utah I was so relieved because now family and friends could attend and I get one now!  We've had a lot of love and support from people the past year and I'm happy we get to celebrate with everyone (if you would like an invite and didn't see my mom's email/post or my posts let me know so we can get you one).  It will be in November and Seth even gets to come!

14 Weeks

We finally made it to a point that I am not sick every moment of every day!  I thought this day would never come.  That's not to say nausea doesn't hit me anymore, because it does.  For example, I had a really good day volunteering at Dress for Success, but around 2:45 the nausea hit me, and by the time I was home from the grocery store at 4, all I wanted to do was sit on the couch and nap.
A tighter shirt to show off the belly better.
What I ended up wearing to volunteer today.  It was fun sharing the news with new and old friends there.
My belly is growing and I am starting to get more energy.  Sometimes I'll look down and be like, "Wow!  That's a bump!"  My sense of smell is not as crazy either.  Currently the only things that bother me are the smell of our bathroom soap and Crest toothpaste.  The toothpaste was terrible enough that I changed brands and now use Sensodyne.  Foods have been harder to enjoy and eat.  My appetite is really small.  For example, I'll eat one taco at dinner instead of two.  I try to eat and snack every couple hours to make up for the smaller meals.

I started putting things on a baby registry this past weekend too.  I figured that I'll use Amazon since they have most things.  We'll probably get our stroller and car seats from a physical store so they can help us set them up and learn all the features.
Bragging on Seth Moment:  There were several days last week where I was throwing up everything I ate and had no energy to move from the couch/bed.  I actually got put on another medicine to help  (I think that makes 4 drugs I have been on).  Seth was (IS) extremely busy at work and would be up most of the day and night working.  Seth finished work earlier one evening (11 PM) and decided to go the grocery store for me so I wouldn't have to go the next day.   He's awesome!
